Musing Mondays - Sept 26, 2016

Musing Mondays is a weekly bookish meme by MizB at Books And A Beat that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer and then asks a random question!

  • I’m currently reading…
  • Up next I think I’ll read…
  • I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
  • I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I can’t wait to get a copy of…
  • I wish I could read ___, but…
  • I blogged about ____ this past week…

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION:
What is Currently on your TBR pile?

I'm currently reading This Savage Song (Monsters of Verity #1) by Victoria Schwab. I've been wanting to read this book since it came out because it just looked so good (I love creepy monsters in the night). I thought I had read some of her books but it turns out that I have never have and so far it it doesn't seem like a bad choice to start off as my first book by her. Thankfully I  won this book in a giveaway from AllThingsEquilateral on Youtube or I know it would have been forever before I could have gotten from our local library as they are a little behind in the new releases section. I've known Sophie since my Twilight days and I was so excited when she started a Bookish youtube channel. If you don't subscribe to her, go check her out today!

For today's random question, I'm just going to do what I have currently checked out from the library because you don't want to know what my real TBR pile is.

1. Fallen by Lauren Kate - I read this book back when it came out but I saw that the series is being made into a movie so I decided to reread it. I originally gave it 3 out 5 marks, so lets see if my rating changes this time around.
2. One Plus One by Jojo Moyes - I've only read Me Before You and started but put down, Me After You. I enjoyed Me BeforeYou but it didn't seem to hit me as hard as it hit most people, I don't think I really connected to Will and that was the problem..  BUT I loved Jojo's writing so when I saw this book available I decided to grab it.
3. The Vault by Boyd Morrison - This was just a random pickup. I've been reading a lot of YA lately and I think that might be the cause of my reading hiatus. So I decided to pick this one up because the summary seemed like something I would like. Apparently this book is the 2nd in the series but I think I'm still going to read it.

Feel free to leave your answers below; I would love to see what is on your TBR pile!

WWW Wednesday 4/6/16

It's WWW Wednesday!  To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

My answers:
Click on the book covers to take you to the book's GoodReads page

What are you currently reading? I'm currently actively reading two books.

Book 1 is for a group read- Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. Louisa Clark is an ordinary girl living an exceedingly ordinary life—steady boyfriend, close family—who has never been farther afield than their tiny village. She takes a badly needed job working for ex-Master of the Universe Will Traynor, who is wheelchair-bound after an accident. Will has always lived a huge life—big deals, extreme sports, worldwide travel—and now he’s pretty sure he cannot live the way he is.  For the group read we are only to read 6 chapters at a time. I did read my 6 chapters yesterday but I found it really hard to put the book down. I know for a fact that there's no way I'm going to make this book stretch out an entire month. The relationship between Louisa and Will is too cute. I've heard people talk about this book being sad. Being in chapter 6, I haven't gotten there yet but I think I'm ready for a big, ugly cry. It's been way too long since my last.

Book 2 is Underneath It All by Kate Canterbary. Sometimes the universe conspires to bring people together. Other times, it throws people down a flight of stairs and leaves them in a bruised and bloodied heap.  I don't entirely have an opinion about this book yet. I wanted a quick, easy read while I was reading Me Before You and I'm not really finding it quick or easy. It's my goal to finish it today because it's not long at all so hopefully it'll get more steamy as I go!

What did you recently finish reading? A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole. One kiss lasts a moment. But a thousand kisses can last a lifetime. One boy. One girl. A bond that is forged in an instant and cherished for a decade. A bond that neither time nor distance can break. A bond that will last forever. Or so they believe. This story is.. sweet and sad.. I did have quite a few crying moments in this book, but nothing like a big, ugly cry. I'm going to be doing a review on the book, I'm just trying to sort out my feeling on how the it ended. Which, is not a way I would have ended it. But I'm not the author, am I?

What do you think you’ll read next?  I think I'm going to go back to our good ol' Jace and Clary in City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare. I read CoFA back when it came out in 2011, and I never bought or read the rest of the Mortal Instruments series. Now that I have recently purchased Lady Midnight in Cassie's newest series (which picks up 5 years after City of Heavenly Fire), I'm going to catch up TMI first. The Mortal War is over, and sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She’s training to become a Shadowhunter and to use her unique power. Her mother is getting married to the love of her life. Downworlders and Shadowhunters are at peace at last.

WWW Wednesday 3/30/16

It's WWW Wednesday!  To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

My answers:

What are you currently reading? The Wedding Dress by Rachel Hauck. This book is actually taking longer than I expected. I thought I would get hooked right away and that just isn't happening.  [From Goodreads] Four brides. One Dress. A tale of faith, redemption, and timeless love.

What did you recently finish reading? Branded (Fall of Angels #1) by Keary Taylor. I have this thing about Angels..I just love reading about them.. This books gives you a hunky love interest, a crazy next door neighbor and some really bad nightmares about being on trial in front of a council of angels. It sucked me in almost from the beginning and I absolutely cannot wait to start book 2.  [From Goodreads] Jessica's had the nightmares for as long as she can remember. Nightmares of being judged for people who have died, of being branded by the angels. Her friends and family think she's a crazy because of it all. Yet she carries the mark of the condemned, seared into the back of her neck, and hides it and herself away from the world.

What do you think you’ll read next? I have a group read to start on so it'll be Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. This book has been talked about in the reading community a lot so I'm glad to finally get to read it. [From Goodreads]Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick. What Lou doesn't know is she's about to lose her job or that knowing what's coming is what keeps her sane.
